Questions

Why is it that some kids ask questions they already know the answer to?

"Is there more tri-tip?" (Hmmm...well, the fact that I JUST TOLD YOU THERE'S MORE may give you an inkling...)
"Is it New Year's Eve?" (Oh, I dunno...do you think that when I tell you over and over that it's New Year's Eve, the last day of 2009, I mean that metaphorically?)
"Is it cloudy?" (No, that's just a monstrous section of grey cotton candy above our heads.)
"Is G a baby?" (A baby?! What?! No! She's practically a grown up.)
"Is my birthday in January?" (Why? Why would you ask me that when less than an hour ago, you told me that your birthday is January 5th????)
"What is the square root of 8.4352?" (I dunno. Get me a calculator.)

I kid you not. I have been asked every one of those questions today, and each time a kid asked one, he already knew the answer! (Except for that last one...)

But seriously, am I alone here?? There must be other children who vie for their parents' attention by asking questions that have already been answered. Right?

By the way, I love my kids.

So my Katie Bug. Every. single. stinking. day. (It seems) Although it has gotten better. Christine left a fabulous comment on one of my blogs about this. Must've been Katherine's. Something about a pickle and now I must go find it. :)

I answer with a question sometimes, just for fun. I will say, "is it dark out" if it is day or "is it light out" if it is dark. Sometimes, I ask is your hair purple. Gets them off track for a few minutes anyway. I did a whole post about that a few months ago, called Questions, incessant unending questions. Does that sound appropriate LOL!

That is funny. I can sympathize...the things they come up (or dont) is amazing.

we answer them all crazy just to get the boys going - are we going to church ( clearly already knows we are) No Fudge we are going to the circus, we will ride elephants... and so on, it works pretty well with ours for a few minutes.
